Royal Cup Of Poker In Kitchener

For those that don't know what The Royal Cup Of Poker is, it is basically a team poker event that is played by teams of 8 players each. 4 team players play Stud and 4 team players play Pot Limit Holdem to start off the day. Then all members play Limit Holdem, the No Limit Holdem, and then each team captain sets up Heads Up matches. All formats are played like a single table sit and go and each player receives points for where they finish at their table, and the team with the most points at the end off all 4 events wins the Royal Cup Of Poker.

I was fortunate enough to be on a solid team from Ching Hill in Brampton as we took down this event with 252 Points. I was also named MVP of the event as I won my PLO, LH, NLH, and HU Table for a perfect score. I was pretty excited with my performance as I never really play that much Omaha or Limit Holdem.

The next Royal Cup should be in the fall sometime. If you are interested in finding out more about this event you should go to http://www.pokerforum.ca and click on te Royal Cup sub message board.

If was definately a fun day of poker and very well organized.

BlogPress for iPhone

So my last blog post was on Sunday just past and I used BlogPress for iPhone. This little app that I found is great, not only can I easily update my blog but I can also add photos, save a newly started blog as a draft to continue later, and also add tags.

Basically I am hopping that with this app I will be able to update my blog more frequently.

What does this weekend bring for me? Well Friday night is Event 15 of the Orangeville Poker Tour ( http://www.meetup.com/OrangevillePokerTour )
And then I am off to Kitchener on Saturday for a little team poker tournament called the Royal Cup. Not only will I be playing Texas Holdem but I will also be playing some Omaha, we will see how that goes.

Running Bad

For the last couple of months while I am playing poker, I seem to be playing pretty and not making many mistakes. But it just seems that I always get my money in ahead and end up losing by the time the river card comes up.

In my latest poker tournament at Seneca Casino, the last three hands I played were, pocket queens, pocket kings, and pocket aces. Each of those hands lost but the river to 2 pair on the river, trip on the river, and 2 pair on the turn, all against players defending their blinds.

Is this the way Texas Holdem Poker is being played now? Players defending their blinds with marginal starting hands, just in the hopes of getting lucky on the flop.

Anyways I may be running bad right now, but I am sure it will turn around soon.
