So I decided to make the trip out to Calgary for The COPC to play in The $2500 Main Event and to meet some of The Canadian Poker Tour (CPT) management that I have been in contact with via email for the past little while.
I met up with Jon Harnish who was in charge or promotions and social media for The CPT just as Canadian and WSOP November Niner Matt Jarvis took down The $5000 COPC Heads Up Tournament for about $100k. I also got to play some poker with Matt Jarvis during The Main Event. This is definitely his year and all around nice guy, and he just recently signed with Full Tilt Poker and is now a Red Named Pro on their site.
I also met up with Kelly Kellner who is the big cheese for The CPT and I expressed my concerns about The CPT in Ontario, and trying to get The CPT more recognized here in Ontario. I did kind of get an inside scoop on what The CPT has planned for Ontario and to the east for next year, but I am sorry I really can't say anything about it and this time, but as soon as anything is official I will let you all know.
I was only in Calgary for the weekend but I did get to meet 2010 WSOP Bracelet winner Gavin Smith, and have a few drinks with Brad Booth, both really nice guys and Gavin was hilarious, though he might have been drunk.
As for the poker in The Main Event, well I made it to the last level of the day before my A 10 suited lost to Q 9 , oh well that's poker, but I truly had a great time in Calgary and Banff
