Poker and TV Ontario

As most of you know, I am the founder of the Orangeville Poker Tour, a home poker league that also runs satellites to The World Series Of Poker.

Last month we held one of these satellites, and had a good turn out of 22 players. Amongst these 22 players was Jeff "AceTenBomber" Burnett and some of his bomb squad. Jeff had contacted me about a week before this tournament letting me know about a small crew from TV Ontario, that wanting to film some of the action and passed along the directors contact info.

After to talking to the director, I found out that TV Ontario is making a documentary on amateur poker players trying to grind out a living playing poker, that will be called "Grinder", and should be aired in the summer of 2011.

I decided to allow this camera crew to come and film us playing poker to try and win a seat to The 2011 WSOP, now who knows if any of the footage will make the final cut, or if this director will come out to any more Orangeville Poker Tour Events, but I must say it was a very different experience having the lights and the cameras there for a little home game satellite played in a basement of a house.

We will see where this documentary goes, and if any of us make it through to the small screen.
