WOW It's Been Awhile

Man, how you find you don't have enough time to do the things you enjoy, like update your blog, when you go back to work.

So I am working up in Port Elgin at the Bruce Nuclear Plant and really do not have any Internet access there, so I guess that is a good reason to be lacking in updates on my blog here.

So here is a quick update on things that have been going on in the last 2 months...

Football Picks - I have won some and lost some, but overall I am up a little money.
Poker - I have cashed in a couple of tournaments but have been getting eaten up at the cash tables, I just can't seem to be serious enough playing 1-2, I guess it is time to move up to 2-5 or 5-10.

Coming up I have a freeroll poker tournament at The Great Blue Heron Casino in Port Perry on December 16th where I am pretty sure I have finished in the top 10 of the Point Leaderboard, and I plan on registering for the $1000 event at The Fallsview Poker Classic to take place from January 8 - 10.

That is it for now, I promise I will try to update my blog more often.

My Sunday NFL Picks

It is another Sunday that will be full of Turkey, Family, and some FOOTBALL. Last week in the NFL, I won my bets, now let's see what I can do this week.

CIN vs BAL - take BAL at 1.22
MIN vs STL - take MIN at 1.16
PIT vs DET - take PIT at 1.16
OAK vs NYG - take NYG at 1.08 (as last reported Manning is playing)
TB vs PHI - take PHI at 1.08

This gives a combined odds of 1.91 on Partybets and with a $100.00 bet your return will be $191.00. Let's see if I can go 2 for 2.

I just had a look at the ProLine sheet for the same picks, and for some reason the NYG game is NOT on the ProLine sheet, but if you play the other 4 games you are getting better odds at 1.20 for those 4 games, but keep in mind that on ProLine a win is when the team wins by 4 or more points in regulation time, and Partybets a win is when a team wins by 1 or more points in regulation time.

Chris Neil A Real Team Player. What An Ass.

A day after their 3-2 overtime win over the New York Islanders, the Ottawa Senators seemingly brought that game intensity to practice where Chris Neil and Jason Spezza got into a skirmish.

The two forwards had a dispute during Friday's practice that saw Neil give Spezza a two-handed slash to the back of the legs, which led to Spezza returning the favour. When Neil dropped his gloves, teammates stepped in to stop it before the incident escalated.

After practice, head coach Cory Clouston downplayed the confrontation.

"That's all right," Clouston stated. "That's just intensity...they'll shake hands and make up."

When asked about the exchange with Neil, Spezza didn't know what caused it, but said he was glad that it didn't go further.

"I don't know what happened,” Spezza said. “Sometimes teammates get into it, it's no big deal.

"As soon as he dropped the gloves it was time to get out of there though"

This isn't the first time Neil has gotten into it with teammates at practice. In the past, he's had similar run-ins with Magnus Arvedson and Martin Havlat.

Way to go Neil, start something up at practice with one of the star players on your team for no apparent reason at all, Neil your a jackass.

ESPN The Magazine Body Issue Features Poker Pros

ESPN The Magazine Body Issue hit newsstands today and it feature semi nude pro poker players Jennifer Harman, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, and Scotty Nguyen.

After I saw the picture, I am pretty sure Jennifer Harman summed up my thoughts when she was reminded that the issue was on the shelves today, YIKES.

Anyways, good for these pros for shedding their clothes, just to promote poker in a national sports magazine.

NFL Sunday Bets

The NFL season is now in full swing, and I have decided that I cannot stay away from placing bets. I guess that is the gambler in me, and since I am to lazy to get my ass to the store to get a pro-line sheet and place my bets, I have signed up to Partybets.

Pertybets doesn't have a spread just a money line along with a whole bunch of special bets that include, 1st team to score, last team to score and so on, I prefer to just play the money line.

After going through the NFL games for today I have decided to bet $100 on 3 games today.

New York Giants over Kansas City Chiefs = 1.25
Idianapolis Colts over Seattle Seahawks = 1.16
San Francisco 49ers over Seattle Seahawks = 1.23
for a total odds of 1.78 x $100 = $178

If those games come through for me I will make a profit of $78 nothing big but hey it is a profit and plus now I have a reason to watch football today. Good Luck to me today.

You Have Got To Be Kidding Me

Forbes says Tiger Woods has become the first athlete to surpass US$1 billion in career earnings.

The magazine estimates that golf's top-ranked player crested the plateau when he earned $10 million for winning the FedEx Cup on Sunday.

Forbes reported on its website on Tuesday that Woods entered 2009 having earned $895 million since he joined the PGA Tour in 1996. Prize money, appearance fees, endorsement fees, bonuses and his golf course design business were calculated to have pushed him over $1 billion.

The magazine says former NBA great Michael Jordan and former Formula One driver Michael Schumacher, at $800 million and $700 million, respectively, are Woods' closest competition in career earnings.

All I can say to this, is WOW totally unbelievable

Atlantic City

So I decided that I would drive to Atlantic City to play in the last two tournaments of The Borgata Poker Open, where the Main Event was a World Poker Tour Event.
I start my drive and when I get to the Philadelphia area I blow out a tire, and have to pull over and put the spare on. It sucks that this happened but hey what can you do, hopefully the rest of the trip goes well. I finally arrive in Atlantic City and call Pep Boys Auto that seem to be the closest tire shop, and make an appointment to get a new tire put on for the next morning before my 1st tournament.

I didn't fair to well in my 1st tournament as I took a bad beat with all my chips in, when I had A A vs 2 2. Oh well that's poker and I have another tournament the next day. I decided I wouls play some table games mainy Texas Holed Bonus where it is just you against the dealer. I did well and left the table up $400.

My 2nd tournament went pretty well and with the structure at the Borgata being so good I knew doing well in this would mean a very very late night, and I was right as I cashed for $665 in 19th place at about 3am. I played solid poker most of the day with very few mistakes, and had a player pay me off with his pocket 2's versus my pocket kings, another player pushes his stack all in with A 5 versus my A K.

The Borgata runs a good tournament with one of the best structures around and if I could I would always go back there to play when they run these.

I got about 2 to 3 hours sleep before I decided to head home for my 9 plus hour drive.

Phil Kessel Is A Maple Leaf

As I reported earlier in this blog, that The Toronto Maple Leafs were interested in obtaining Boston Bruin restricted free agent Phil Kessel. After lengthy negotiations with the Bruins, and Kessel's agent for a contract, the trade and signing were done today. The Leafs gave up a 1st and 2nd round pick in 2010 and a 1st round pick in 2011, to the Bruins and then immediately signed Kessel to a 5 year deal worth $27 Million or $5.4 Million a year.

I do not agree with giving up two 1st round picks considering they could have signed Kessel to an offer sheet that Boston could not match as they are too close the salary cap, and the Leafs would have only lost a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick. Kessel is a great hockey player at 21 years of age and could very well be the next big thing to happen to the Toronto Maple Leafs, but we will not see him action until mid November as he is still recovering from surgery.

Last season Kessel managed to put up 36 goals, 24 assists, for 60 points in 70 games, which I really do not think he will be able to repeat as a Leaf, those numbers will drop, and all these Leaf fans will will start saying that the Leafs are paying him too much money. I say to this, give the kid a break Leaf fans, he is only 21 and if this season does not live up to your expectations of him, I am sure he will return to his 36 or more goals a season. Only time will tell and I cannot wait to experience the Kessel factor this season.

Dany Heatley Traded To The San Jose Sharks

I have been trying to stay away from writing anything about the Dany Heatley situation but I just can't anymore. Here we have a two time 50 goal scorer who signs a big multi year contract with the Ottawa Senators, and basically because he doesn't like the way his new coach is using him on the team (taking him off the 1st power play unit), asks to get traded. Ok simple enough but wait, Heatley has a no movement clause in his contract so he will only except a trade to a team he approves.

The way I see it is professional athletes are having way to much power in their contracts, especially with no movement clauses. Team need to stop giving these players these type of clauses, just sign a multi year, multi million dollars contracts, and if the team decides to trade you then so be it, that is the life of a professional athlete. Gone are the days of Steve Yzerman, Mario Lemieux, and Joe Sakic, where the star player is drafted by and stays with that team from beginning to end of their career.

Back to Heatley, to me he is nothing more then an immature cry baby that has to have his way. The Senators had a deal in place to send Heatley to the Edmonton Oilers, but because of his no movement clause Heatley said no. Well now The Senators worked out a deal with the San Jose Sharks which Heatley was ok with. The Senators sent Heatley and a 5th round pick to San Jose for Milan Michalek, Jonathan Cheechoo, and a 2nd round pick.

So Heatley gets his way and is out of Ottawa and away from a coach he did not agree with, I was hoping that Ottawa wouldn't have found a deal they liked and they just taught this immature athlete a lesson and bench him for awhile to see how he likes that, but then again Heatley may make me change my mind about him if he becomes a Canadian hero at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, that's if he even makes the team.

The We Gotta Go Girl

When I first saw this on Last Comic Standing back in 2007 I thought it was hilarious and couldn't stop laughing. It is so true is so many ways.

Theo Fleury Re-Instated To Play In The NHL

So the NHL had re-instated Theo Fleury. What does this mean you ask, well it means that if any NHL Team wants him to play for their team he can. Fleury WAS a great hockey player, he WAS a great leader on and off the ice, and I say was because he is now 41 years old, and I really do not think he can be a great hockey player anymore.

This guy destroyed his career by abusing alcohol, yes this is a disease and I am glad that he has fought this battle and won, and I do really hope an NHL team picks him up, and he becomes a leader for the younger players on that team, but I really do not see him more than a 4th liner on any NHL team.

Mike McDonald Has Another Impressive Run On The EPT

Mike McDonald also known as Timex online from Waterloo Ontario Canada has another impressive cash on The European Poker Tour (EPT) sponsored by Pokerstars. Since he is not yet old enough to play in the United States he has mainly concentrated on the EPT where the legal age to gamble is 18.

Mike has finished 14th EPT Prague Season 4, 1st EPT German Open Season 4, 5th EPT Prague Season 5, and now 11th EPT Barcelona Season 5. This kid is just tearing up the European Poker Tour, just wait until he can play in the States and the World Series Of Poker.

Here is his bust out hand from EPT Barcelona,

Mike McDonald Eliminated In 11th Place (€40,000)
Mike McDonald pushed preflop with Kd Qs and the uberstacked Carter Phillips made the call from the small blind with 6d 6c.
The board was 4c Ad 3s 5c 7c and Phillips goes from strength to strength ending McDonald's day with a straight.

What Are The Toronto Maple Leafs Up To?

So the Leafs have re-acquired their 2nd round pick in the 2010 draft from the Chicago Black Hawks. Most will say no big deal just another draft pick, but what most don't realize is this now gives the Leafs a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round pick in the draft, and that they can decide to sign a Restricted Free Agent to an offer sheet, and if the team they played on last season decides not to match the offer then the Leafs would lose those 3 picks as compensation, if the signing player signs for under $5 million a season.

Rumours are that the Leafs are interested in 21 year old and 3rd year NHL'er Phil Kessel of the Boston Bruins, who is currently a restricted Free Agent. Kessel in his 3rd year had a career year with 36 goals, 24 assists, for 60 points in 70 games with the Bruins last season. Clearly he is coming into his own aa a 21 year old, but as the Leafs have proven over the years when they get a player that can score they seem to not use him right, and the players stats fall dramatically. If this does happen, and Kessel becomes a Maple Leaf, hopefully under coach Wilson, he will be used effectively and the Leafs will finally have a bonafide 1st liner.

Fatal Attraction on Twitter

Twitter may have been widely accepted by the poker community, but one high profile player who doesn’t broadcast his life to the world 140 characters at a time is Patrik Antonius. The only reason I know that Mantonius doesn’t tweet is because he recently told the world that there’s a stalker using his name on the popular social network.

Someone pretending to be Patrik has been tweeting insults about Doyle Brunson being “senile” and easily beaten at the high stakes games in Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio. The living legend, whose own use of Twitter is well-documented, didn’t take the harsh words lightly. He demanded an explanation from Patrik, who let Texas Dolly know he had nothing to do with the matter and then made sure to get the word out to the rest of the poker community.

“I had never heard of Twitter before this summer,” Patrik told “I don’t have a Twitter account and I have never posted a single word there. I have no interest in posting updates about my comings or goings. I’m a private person and I want to keep my private life to myself.”

I guess this is how you know you are "famous" when people start to pretend that they are you.

A Champion Retires

With a Stanley Cup championship finally under his belt, Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Philippe Boucher had decided that the time is right to step away from the game.

The veteran of 17 NHL seasons announced his retirement on Thursday, and ended a career that began when he was a first-round pick of the Buffalo Sabres (13th overall) in 1991.

"I have always admired athletes that have retired as champions and I am humbled to have the chance to count myself among them," said Boucher. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank my teammates, my coaches and the organizations I played with over the years. I am going to miss being with the boys."

The 36-year old native of Ste-Apollinaire, Quebec finishes with exactly 300 points (94 goals, 206 assists). His best season was with the Dallas Stars in 2006-07, when he had 19 goals, 32 assists, and represented the Western Conference at the All-Star Game.

He joined the Penguins midway through last season when he was acquired from Dallas in a trade for defenceman Darryl Sydor.

Boucher may be a lesser known NHL hockey player, but he definately is a stand up guy that rolled with the punches and never complained about ice time during his time with the Penguins, even when he was a healthy scratch for a few games during last years Stanley Cup Playoffs.

2010 World Series Of Poker, Some Changes Announced

No. 1: More $1,000 Events. In 2008, the Stimulus Special debuted. The $1,000 no-limit hold’em event was a rousing success, easily selling out its two starting days for a field of more than 6,000 players. WSOP tournament organizers took notice and are planning on adding several — in the neighborhood of six, according to Palansky — to the 2010 schedule.

No. 2: A Bigger ‘Physical Footprint.’ This year, the WSOP sold out 10.25 events — the 0.25, of course, a painful reminder to day 1D sellout at the main event. Palansky stressed that it isn’t the WSOP’s intent to sell out events, and it is looking for more space — potentially the room in which Poker Palooza was held this year — to alleviate that problem.

No. 3: A Solution to the Day 1D Problem. Knowing that poker players sometimes like to procrastinate and enter tournaments at the last possible moment, the WSOP is considering once again assigning starting days to players. However, that notion is far from finalized. Palanksy emphasized that the WSOP would like to keep that control in the players’ hands, if possible.

No. 4: An Earlier-Released Schedule. In 2008, the WSOP schedule wasn’t announced until late January. While Palansky hesitated on giving a firm date, he said that players could expect to see the new schedule “in the fall, for sure.”

Things that players shouldn’t expect to change are the triple starting stacks and the absence of rebuys in the 2010 schedule. Palansky said that both the starting stacks and the WSOP’s replacement of the rebuys, the triple-chance event, were both well received.

All in all, players shouldn’t expect too many different events in 2010.

“We feel like we can get the schedule out sooner, because there’s less of an overhaul to do,” said Seth Palansky. “We can pretty much run with what we did last year, perhaps taking out some events that didn’t have such a good attendance and adjusting the buy-ins on some others.”

To read more about the removal of the 40k Event go to CardPlayer where the full story is posted.

While there really isn't that much of a change from the 2009 to the 2010 World Series Of Poker, the releasing of the 2010 schedule earlier then usually is a good thing, as it allows for the average poker player to plan ahead and book the time off work well in advance.

The Orangeville Poker Tour (OPT) will be holding Satellite Poker Tournaments monthly to a $1500 buy in at The 2010 World Series of Poker startign this month. Go to to sign up and reserve your seat.

My Latest Poker Tournament

Yesterday I made my way to my latest poker tournament a $100 buy in, a little smaller buy in then I usually been playing, but this one had 91 players, with the top 10 getting paid and first place paying about $2300. I also decided to deal for my table which actually made my buy in $50 as dealers get to buy in for half price.

I played pretty solid poker with making some solid reads and great bluffs through out the day. I ended finishing 4th for $860, when we were 4 handed with blinds at 3000/6000 and a 400 ante, I pushed for 65000 UTG with A 8 of spades and get called from the big blind who had K 3 of clubs, of coarse a K on the turn and I am left with 9500 going into the big blind. I am dealt K Q off suit and get put all in by the small blind who had A 9 off suit and I do not improve to end my day in 4th.

It feels good to get a decent cash finally in a tournament since I have been running deep lately but have finished just out of the money in my latest big tournaments.

Next poker tournament for me is in The Orangeville Poker Tour (OPT) on September 11, 2009 which is a $60 buy in and the start of The OPT's 4th season.

If you are interested in playing some fun poker tournaments with a great bunch of people sign up through the above link and join us.

Bell Mobility Hardware Upgrade Loyalty Credit Is A Scam

So my contract is up with Bell Mobility in October of this year, and I phoned and asked them what my upgrade credit was, and they told me $200.00.

Great, no problem I think, well that was about 2 or 3 months ago, and I asked so I can just go into one of your stores and purchase a phone and get $200.00 off, and the response was yes sir.

Well now I call them yesterday about my upgrade credit and was immediately told that to receive my credit I would have to sign a 3 year contract. WHAT? Yes sir you will have to sign a contract with us.

So I get off the phone and started to think about this, and decided to send off the following email.

"Can I just go purchase a brand new phone that
costs $600 and get $200 off without signing a new contract"

The response to this question was.

"Upon full review of your email, I regret to inform you that the Hardware
Upgrade Loyalty Credit cannot be applied to the cost of a new phone in
lieu of a contract renewal."

Ok fine since I was already told that on the phone I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask again, so I then sent off another email.

"So how do I get my $200 hardware credit, if I have to sign a contract, you already give deals for 3 year contracts.
For example Palm Pre for 3 years is $199.99, can I apply my credit to this so I can get the Pre for $0.00?"

and the response was.

"Upon full review of your email, I wish to clarify that the retail
suggested price of Palm Pre is $599.95 (no contract). You are eligible
to benefit from a hardware upgrade loyalty credit of up to $200 based on
a 36 month contract term renewal. If you renewed on a 36 month
contract, the phone would be $599.95 - $200 = $399.95. There is an
additional promotion of $200 with a minimum monthly voice and data plan
of $45 or higher with subscribing to a minimum 500MB data plan feature
for a minimum of 12 months. If you remove this feature prior to the 12
months, a data service fee will apply of $200. So with with additional
promotion $399.95 - $200 = $199.95 + applicable taxes."

Now if I was a new customer to Bell Mobility I would get the exact same deal for the Palm Pre, so where is this $200 Hardware Upgrade Loyalty Credit if being a new customer gets the same deal as an existing customer?

Is Rogers the same way with their upgrade credits?

Jason Allison Coming Back To The Leafs

The Globe and Mail is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs have granted a tryout to one-time Leaf Jason Allison.

The report says that the 34-year old, who has not played in the NHL since the 2005-06 season, will attend the Leafs' camp next month without a contract. The Globe says that Allison approached the team about the idea of a comeback over the summer and Toronto agreed to have a look at him.

Here is what some people are saying:

"This guy was not a bad player and if the Leafs can get a couple good years out of him for little money this is a no brainer. He may not be a top line guy but second or 3rd." chrimact

"He's kind of slow, but he controls the play well and the Leafs need all the help they can get up front." ventsation

"is Burke taking GM advice from JFJ?" boosterleafs

Sure this guy is slow and very injury plagued, but hey they have not signed him and is he is only there to try out and see if he can make the team. He hasn't played in 2 years so hopefully he is past all those injuries, and when healthy and playing he is a point a game player or at least close to it. What was Sundin his last few years in Toronto? He was a point a game player if that.

OLG Brantford Casino

Living in Ontario sucks for good structured poker tournaments compared to British Columbia and Alberta.

Yesterday the OLG Brantford Casino held a $400 buy in tournament with 5000 starting chips and 20 minute blind levels, which is close to one of the best structures in Ontario but still not the greatest that could be run. The monthly tournaments that are held in Port Perry at The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino are much better structured.

Anyways I played in the Brantford tournament yesterday and this tournament gives you a fair amount of play at the beginning stages but when you get close to the end, it turns into a "bingo", meaning that you really can no longer play poker but everyone that is left basically has to push all in and hope for the best.

About in the middle stages of this poker tournament I built a good stack then I lost to races when pocket 6's lost to A K, and my A K suited lost to pocket 6's, oh the irony, which brought me down to average stack in chips. I then grinded it out and made the final table with about 25k in chips.

Now having 25k in chips may sound good but not really when the blinds are 3000 / 6000. You would also think that I am the short stack but in fact out of the 9 of us that are left I am probably sitting in 6th or so, this is what I mean by bingo, most players at the table can not make a proper raise without it costing them 1/2 to 3/4 of their stack, so they may as well just push all in.

We are down to 7 players left with the top 5 making the money, and I am in the small blind. Action is folded around to me and I look down at pocket 6's, and decide to complete and the big blind checks, flop comes 2 5 6 rainbow, and I push all in with a set of 6's, and the big blind calls with pocket 7's, turn is a Q, and the river is bang a 7 giving my opponent a better set, and I am now left with 1500 in chips and of coarse bust out in 7th spot once the big blind got back around to me.

I had a great time playing and never made any big mistakes, I just got unlucky when the game turned from poker to bingo in the late stages.

Playing Poker Against WPT Champ Glen Witmer at Great Blue Heron Charity Casino

So last month there was an $1100 buy in No Limit Poker Tournament at The Great Blue Heron Charity Casino (GBH). It started at 10am and I arrived at about 9am so decided I would grab a power nap in my car then shoot back a 5 hour power drink before I headed inside to get my table and seat assignment. As I wake from my nap and start to shoot back the power drink I see World Poker Tour Champion Glen Witmer heading into the casino.

The tournament starts and Glen is not at my table but I do spot him a few tables over. After a few hours of play my table breaks and sure enough I get moved to Glen's table, and he sporting his WPT bracelet. I start small chit chat with him and congratulate him on winning The North American Poker Championship held at Fallsview Casino and Resort in Niagara Falls Canada last year. other players at the table seemed a little shocked, and on with some stories from Glen about the event and the win.

I decided I did not want to play big pots against him, and was only going to play strong hands. So Glen is in middle position and makes a standard 3x the big blind raise, I am 3 seats to his left and look down at A J offsuit, not the greatest hand but I decide to call, and it is only the two of us to the flop. Flop comes 5 Q 10 rainbow, Glen bets about half the pot, and I think he is just continuation betting, plus I have a good chip stack and need a king for a straigth so I call. The turn is a 8 and Glen checks, and I check behind, thinking I will take a free card. The river is a J and Glen fires out a bet of just over half the pot, I go into the think tank for a little bit here, I do not put him on A Q as he would have bet the turn, so I ask him "Glen do you have A K?" he just sits there staring at the board with his sunglasses on, I call his bet and he shows A 5 for bottom pair, and my A J takes down a good size pot.

In closing playing with a WPT Champ was fun and Glen is a real down to earth guy and I look forward to seeing him at future poker tournaments.

WPT Legends Of Poker Final Table

Last night at The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles California, The World Poker Tour played down to the final TV Table of 6 players, that will be taped later today.

The biggest surprise and chip leader is Kevin Schaffel a virtually unknown, until this past summers WSOP, where he battled over 6000 players in the Main Event, to become one of the elite November 9, and garanteed at least $1.5 million. Going into this final table as the chip leader he now has a chance to take down 1st place worth $1 million.

I always like it when someone that is not known main stream in the poker world has an amazing showing at the Main Event in The WSOP and then follows that up with a WPT TV final table. It takes me back to last years WSOP, when Ivan Demidov made the November 9 and then went and made the final table of the Main Event in The WSOP Europe.

This just shows when you are on a heater it pays off.

Partygaming Aquires WPT Assets For $12.3 million

I knew The WPT was having some problems, but with this sale to Partygaming, I think we will be in for some new and exciting things coming from The WPT and Partygaming.

First it might bring back Party Poker to be in the top 3 for online poker sites with Pokerstars and Fulltilt Poker.

Once this deal get finalized, I am sure Partygaming will offer online satellites to most of the major WPT Poker Tournaments.

Only time wil tell if this a good or bad think for the poker world, in my opinion I am thinking a very good plus for poker in the world and especially in the states.

Live Poker Declining

The last two major World Poker Tour Events (WPT) have declined in players by 25% to 38%. Is this because of the $10,000 buy in being to much considering the economy? Is it because there is to many competing poker tournaments around now, like the European Poker Tour (EPT), and the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT)? Or is it because The WPT always wants to gove out at least $1 million to 1st place with 2nd place only getting about $400,000 are players just staying away because the payouts are not flat enough?

Well I think all of the above have somewhat of a factor to the decrease in players for the WPT. Players from overseas have more to choose from now and thus do not have to travel as far to play in a Major Poker Tournament. If the WPT also changed their main event buy in to $5,000 instead of $10,000 I think they will generate about 200 more players thus still making the final table with excellent pay outs that people will still watch.

So I think the WPT needs to change to bring their numbers back up, and thus when the poker boom happens again they can change again.
